A Pioneer In Bunion Surgery
Neal M. Blitz, DPM, FACFAS is in private practice in Midtown Manhattan NY (5th Avenue at 61st Street) and is best known for his revolutionary strides in bunion surgery. His advanced bunion surgery techniques get patients walking right after bunion surgery and back on their feet fast without the need for casts or crutches, regardless of the size of the bunion, in a vast majority of cases.
He has pioneered “walking after bunion surgery” with larger bunions with the Lapidus Bunionectomy technique since 2000, and his game-changing research on bunion surgery was published in the Journal of Foot & Ankle Surgery (one of the best foot and ankle surgery journals). Despite his efforts to advance the profession, fifteen years later many surgeons still do not get patients moving postoperatively like Dr. Blitz has demonstrated is possible. Many of Dr. Blitz’ patients are back to work a few days after bunion surgery.
With the Bunionlasty® procedure Dr. Blitz can keep the incision mainly on the side of the foot which is different than traditional methods, which is a more aesthetic outcome for patients seeking prettier feet.

Dr. Blitz has a premier international foot and ankle surgery practice, with an emphasis on bunion surgery. While the bulk of Dr. Blitz’ practice involves foot and ankle surgery on patients in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey and Connecticut), patients have traveled great distances for surgery with him. The techniques and procedures developed by Dr. Blitz are used by surgeons around the world, and has led patients to come to New York to have surgery specifically with Dr. Blitz.
